• AI Policy at the Crossroads: Navigating Innovation Without a National Framework

    << A POLICY SUMMIT PANEL SPOTLIGHT >>

Artificial intelligence is no longer a distant concept — it’s here, and it’s reshaping the way businesses operate. According to GNDC’s 2024 Economics and Employer Survey, 63% of our members are beginning to explore AI use and applications, while 15% report frequent use in their business operations. These numbers highlight a clear trend: North Dakota businesses are curious, cautious, and increasingly engaged with AI’s potential.

Yet while adoption grows, policy struggles to keep pace. Without a national framework, states have started crafting their own AI laws. The result is a patchwork of regulations that increase compliance costs, heighten litigation risks, and make it harder for businesses to plan with confidence. For AI to truly drive economic growth, the U.S. needs a roadmap that protects consumers without stifling innovation.
